Safety and Health Policy
In all aspects of its exploration and mining activities Mega Uranium Ltd is committed to providing and maintaining a safe working environment including safe systems of work for all employees, visitors and contractors.
Mega has developed an occupational Health and Safety Management System that is integrated with all organisational activities.
All employees have a responsibility to work safely, to take all reasonable care for their own health and safety and to consider the health and safety of other people who may be affected by their actions. All Managers and Supervisors are responsible to ensure, within their respective level of control, the safety and health of employees, contractors and visitors to the workplace.
Mega adopts the preventive principle that a zero injury frequency rate is achievable and therefore it is a key management objective. The benefit to be gained from a successful safety and health program are significant in both human and monetary terms, and justifies the pursuit of the highest standards of occupational health and safety.
The overall policy objectives are to:
-
establish safety as the highest organisational goal,
-
provide and maintain a workplace and systems of work, so far as practicable, that ensure employees, contactors and visitors are not exposed to hazards,
-
ensure all employees are provided with information, instruction, training and supervision appropriate to the scope of work being undertaken,
-
enforce compliance with applicable legal requirements and other requirements to which the Company subscribes,
-
ensure continuous improvement in the areas of accident prevention and safe work practices,
-
consult with employees on any issues that may affect their safety and health at work, and
-
through consultation with relevant stakeholders achieve improvement of the OHSMS by performing regular reviews to ensure that measurable Occupational Health and Safety objectives, and targets are met. All employees shall be made aware of their OHS obligations and will follow the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System in the performance of their tasks, and will ensure this policy is supported and maintained. This policy will be communicated to our employees, customers, suppliers and subcontractors and is available to the public via the Company's website www.megauranium.com .
